2020 Holidays Community Engagement Activities
While COVID-19 sidelined our traditional holiday events, we were still able to provide the community with some memorable experiences. We kicked things off Thanksgiving weekend with Hometown Holiday Experience, which invited residents to take a socially-distanced stroll or drive through Downtown Parker. Over the three days, visitors were treated to Parker’s holiday lights, pre-recorded holiday music playing along Mainstreet, ice sculpture displays and seasonal character appearances from Buddy the Elf, a toy soldier, a gingerbread man and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. A trio of decoration displays including Candy Cane Lane at Discovery Park, Toyland on Mainstreet and Santa's Workshop at O'Brien Park were also set up to explore.
Where in Downtown Parker is the Xfinity Elf?
Downtown festivities continued each weekend through Dec. 20 as the Town invited our holiday walk-around characters from Thanksgiving weekend to stick around and many of you (over 100 entries) spotted our real live Xfinity Elf and were entered the Elf Around Town Scavenger Hunt drawing for a chance to win a TV!
Congratulations to the Jaramillo family for winning that TV and thank you to Xfinity for coordinating with Santa and allowing Buddy the Elf and all his friends to come to Parker!
Parker Porch Parade Series Presented by Xfinity
Throughout this past holiday season our community was invited to celebrate with the Town of Parker by decorating their front porches, yards, patios or balconies and unleashing their creativity to bring some holiday joy to friends and neighbors!
Thank you to all of you that entered the decorating contest and all who voted. It was a fun way to show our Parker hometown spirit and share the spirit of the holidays with each other while not being able to gather!
